Consultations: What to expect

During the initial consultation, you will be asked about your current issue, general health, medications and any previous medical history. This is to ensure a safe examination and treatment. If possible please bring a listing of your medications.

After the history, you will be asked to undress to your underwear or shorts in order to assess your posture and movements. Some orthopaedics or other medical tests may also be performed if appropriate to determine what may be going on and to decide on an appropriate treatment plan.

You will be advised on the number of sessions necessary. This will depend on your presentation and how your body responds to treatment.

For treatment, I use physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, relieve muscle tension, enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. I can provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Please note that it is common to feel sore or/and stiff following treatment. This usually lasts around 48-72 hours. Most people describe their reaction as similar to aching and pain felt after exercising. It is common also to feel tired after a treatment.

You can read my testimonials or get more information in the frequently asked questions section.

Helpful tips:

- Avoid alcohol and having a large meal before the consultation.

- Please remove jewellery, especially necklaces and earings.

- Arrive in plenty of time to ensure time to treat

- Please switch off your mobile phone to avoid disruption

- After the treatment drink plenty of water.
