What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a complementary, drugless medicine that was discovered by an American medical doctor, A.T. Still, in 1874 after becoming disillusioned by the remedies of the medical system practiced at the time.

Integral to the osteopathic philosophy is a believe in the body inherent forces to self-heal. Osteopathy uses manual techniques and lifestyle advice to help patient find their way back to health.

Osteopathy is not just for back pain or 'something to do with bones'. Osteopaths study anatomy, pathology and manual techniques for at least four years before qualifying. They can help patients with a number of ailments.
